Do you wonder if you’ll ever find the kind of relationship you want?
Maybe you just had a bad break up, or perhaps you’re contemplating ending your relationship. You may be feeling drained, pouring into everyone else without return, or simply resorting to isolating and withdrawing from relationships altogether. Perhaps you’re feeling that there’s something wrong with you that pushes people away.
Maybe you’re noticing:
You feel easily irritated in your relationships
Relationships are starting to feel like disappointments waiting to happen
You’ve withdrawn from social engagements or feel quite anxious when you do attend
You’re draining yourself at work, going long hours to distract from how discontent you feel in relationships
You’ve stopped doing things you used to enjoy
Your mind is consumed with thoughts about relationships that’ve gone wrong
Relationship therapy in Phoenix can help.
The most important relationship you have is the relationship with yourself. Individual relationship therapy is an opportunity to invest not only in your connection to others, but also your connection to yourself. When you feel confident and at ease with yourself, you can more readily engage with others in a meaningful and fulfilling way.
OUR APPROACH TO WORKING WITH ATTACHMENT & RELATIONSHIPS
We are shaped by our early experiences in relationship. Those connections impact how we view ourselves and the world.
Based on our beliefs, we re-enact early attachment patterns which sometimes leads to re-wounding and ultimately feeling unfulfilled.
By understanding your unique story, together we can explore where healing is needed and work to find ways to engage in meaningful relationships in the present, feeling confident and fulfilled.

FAQS
Common questions about relationship therapy in Phoenix, AZ
-
My focus is helping individuals to uncover the pain from their past that may be impacting their current relationships, and together tailoring an approach to healing.
As such, I don’t typically work with couples.

In our 50-minute sessions together, we’ll explore themes of past relationships (in family, friendships, and partners). From those themes, we’ll begin to understand what beliefs about yourself have been cultivated. Together we’ll explore how those beliefs impact your current relationships and identify ways to heal from negative beliefs that hold you back.
Sometimes the healing process involves a trauma-informed approach called EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) which activates memory processing in the brain through stimulating both sides of the body through eye movements or “buzzies” you hold in each hand. Other times, I may guide you through a meditation to connect with your “inner child” that may have experienced wounding. All along the way, I check in to see what’s working for you and tailor my approach to your needs and pace.

Great question. I wish there was a simple answer! Client progress varies, depending on life circumstances and the kinds of attachment wounds created in childhood and adulthood.
Some clients find that committing to going to therapy biweekly for 6 months is a good start. From there we can determine if more work together is suitable, or we’ve arrived at a good stopping point. We can create a treatment plan tailored to your needs and reassess your needs as we go.

While I can’t make guarantees, clients do often leave attachment therapy having a greater awareness of their unique style of relationship. They are better equipped to identify relationships that will be fulfilling. They often feel more confident in asking for what they need in relationships as well feeling confident in themselves as a person.

The session fee is $250. We will meet weekly for the first month and then decide if we want to continue to meet weekly or biweekly.
Payment can be made via cash, check, or card (including HSA). While I do not accept insurance, I can provide a superbill (receipt) which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement if you’d like.

Our first step is to have a brief 15-minute consult call. On this call you can share with me a bit about your current situation or pain. I’ll answer any questions you have about therapy and our potential work together. Then if it feels like a good fit, we’ll schedule our first 50-minute intake session.
